Mellisa Carlson, LCSW

Clinical Supervisor and Mentor

Mellisa Carlson joined Heritage Health in 2021 and currently serves as the Clinical Supervisor and Mentor for the Pediatric Therapy team. She has worked in the mental health field for more than 10 years and entered the profession with a passion for helping individuals experiencing mental health challenges find hope, connection, and healing.


Mellisa works with clients of all ages, but she specializes in supporting children, adolescents, and their parents or caregivers. She is especially passionate about working with individuals experiencing neurodivergence, including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as anxiety disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related disorders, depression, and stress.


Her therapeutic approach integrates a variety of evidence-based practices, including attachment-centered principles, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Circle of Security, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention. Mellisa is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider, and a Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Therapist.


Originally from St. Maries, Idaho, Mellisa enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, playing video games, and spending time with her husband and children. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho in 2012 and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Boise State University in 2017.

A fun fact about Mellisa: she has a pet ball python named Julius Squeezer.
