Kootenai County

Kootenai County is located in northern Idaho, and it is surrounded by scenic mountains and more than twenty magnificent lakes. Tourism, health care and light manufacturing are the primary industries. The largest communities in the county are Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls and Rathdrum. More than 170,000 people live in Kootenai County.

RECREATION

People can enjoy a wide array of outdoor activities throughout the year, including camping, hiking, biking, boating, skiing and snowboarding. Hunting and fishing are popular pursuits. 

Public and private schools offer parents a variety of choices for students in grades K-12. Coeur d’Alene is a hub for higher education and professional/technical training. Students can earn their associate and bachelor’s degrees or receive career certifications in the same county.
